About LocalAthletes.net

LocalAthletes.net is a local resource for Austin area athletes to find pick up games, schedule a game or tournament, talk sports, or even sell gear. Our goal is to also help coaches and team leaders find athletes around the Austin area to help fill rosters and have the ability to do that from one place.

Being members of leagues ourselves and trying to coordinate teams has always been a challenge.

By creating a social atmosphere, we’re also creating a database for coaches or members to search other athletes based on certain criteria. After an athlete becomes a member, they’ll be able to customize their profile so that they can make themselves available by season, sport, location and gender.

In order to make it as easy as possible to find information, we provide athletes and coaches the tools to find what they need.

Here’s what it looks like.

Social

Our platform gives athletes a dedicated sports related network, outside of the normal world. The features and functionality are very similar to Facebook, but geared towards an athletes world. Athletes can post to an activity wall, send private messages, post comments, create groups, create group forums, invite friends, post classifieds and schedule group events .

Resources

We provide a list of groups and organizations in the Austin area that provide a sport or recreational activity. The list is categorized by each sport that is offered to simplify the process of finding a league or team an athlete could join. This list is available to our members only.

Free Agent Search

This is the most important aspect of our sports community. Our search form gives coaches and athletes the ability to find a player, fill a position, create a new team, or start a pick up game. Athletes are found based on location, gender, sports available to play, season and time availability. These attributes are based on the selections an athlete chooses when creating their profile.

Events

The events calendar is a quick reference for athletes to find pick up games or any other recreational activities across all leagues in the area. We're constantly updating our calendar to give our members a snapshot of everything going on with sports in Austin. We've included an easy form to create events and start your own games as well.
